Tailwind - Helsinki Horizon 2030

1 / 5

Helsingin kantakaupungista vapautuneille satama-alueille rakentuu kolme uutta kaupunginosaa, joissa eletään hyvää elämää meren äärellä.

Exhibition presents the changes planned for the former harbour areas in Länsisatama, Kalasatama and Kruunuvuorenranta.
In the exhibition's large aerial image the city of Helsinki is shown as it appears in the present moment. The short films and small scale models represent the futuristic level. Video clips let you experience the unique atmosphere in each of three areas. In the exhibition you can also build your own vision of Helsinki´s Horizon.

What would you do with 20 kilometres of new urban shoreline?
Helsinki is faced with changes on a magnitude that the city has not experienced for more than a century. Vast harbour and industrial areas have been liberated in the city centre and will be developed over the coming decades into three new urban districts.
At the same time city residents will gain access to 20 kilometres of new shoreline.
How will this improve the quality of life for residents and what opportunities will it create for en-joying every day life and the moment?
Read more about the life beside the seaside.
More information available at the exhibition Tailwind - Helsinki Horizon 2030.

Greetings to the future with beach balls!
In the exhibiton's two workshops you can also write and draw your greetings on Helsinki beach balls that will be sent in the future to the residents of these new districts.

Come and join the workshops at Laituri:
Helsinki Day on Sat 12 June at 12 noon – 4 pm
Night of the Arts on Fri 27 Aug at 6 pm - 21 pm

Entire City of Helsinki in one sea container
The City of Helsinki has been appointed to be the World Design Capital 2012. For the City of Helsinki, design has for decades been a pivotal enabler to building an open city.
The Helsinki Horizon is part of the International Architecture Showcase organised by the British Council and The Architecture Foundation for the London Festival of Architecture 2010. The Exhibition is built inside a sea container that will be open from 19 June to 4 July 2010 at OXO Tower, London South Bank. It will then tour the world as the flagship of the Helsinki World Design Capital project.
