Entries to the Kruunusillat design competition will be on display at Laituri from 20 February to 9 March 2013
The competition entries for the design of the new bridges that will connect Kruunuvuorenranta in Laajasalo with the inner city will be put up on display and residents of the city will have an opportunity to comment on the designs.
The objective of the Kruunusillat design competition is to design a bridge connection from Sompasaari to Kruunuvuorenranta via Korkeasaari. The connection, which would span Kruunuvuoirenselkä, would be made up of at least two bridges. The longest of the bridges could span 1.2 km, making it the longest bridge in Finland. Ten international teams are taking part in the competition, and their entries can be seen at Laituri and online from 20 February to 9 March 2013.
The feedback that is received from the public will be gathered into a summary, which will be handed over to the competition jury. Only then will the jury decide upon the winning design. No decision has yet been made on the implementation of Kruunusillat; the purpose of the competition is to determine what kind of bridge solutions would be feasible.
